Environmental Policy Statement

We believe that businesses are responsible for achieving good environmental practice and operating in a sustainable manner.

We are therefore committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our environmental performance as an integral and fundamental part of our business strategy and operating methods.

It is our priority to encourage our customers, suppliers and all business associates to do the same.
Not only is this sound commercial sense for all but it ensures we deliver on our duty of care towards future generations.

Our policy is to:

  • Comply, as a minimum, with all applicable laws and regulations related to environmental health and safety and observe all relevant codes of practice.
  • Use environmentally sound packaging solutions and operations wherever possible including:
    • Biodegradable non-hazardous loose-fill.
    • Recycled cardboard packaging.
    • Minimal use of polythene/plastic packaging, recycling these materials where used.
  • Ensure our catalogues are printed on paper produced from mills that comply with quality assurance ISO 9001 and environmental management ISO 14001.
  • Recycle or reuse as much paper/plastic based waste produced as possible.
  • Recycle discontinued / imperfect stock by donating to organisations within the local community.
  • Encourage the use of public transport by staff to and from work wherever possible. Implement a working policy to accommodate this.
  • Monitor energy consumption and promote energy saving practices throughout the business wherever possible.
  • Assess the environmental impact of any new processes or products we intend to introduce in advance.
  • Where possible ensure that primary suppliers and contractors uphold similar environmental standards to our own.
  • Encourage the full cooperation of all JHR employees in achieving good standards of environment, health and safety protection, raising awareness of key environmental issues.
  • Continually seek to improve our environmental performance with a regular review of practices and procedures, making environment, health and safety improvements beyond those legally required where such improvements provide significant environment, health and safety benefits at reasonable cost.
